Pomegranate Kiss
poem by Vicki Robey

I smile to myself
As you wipe the juice
from your chin
with the back of your hand
how I imagine the
sweetness of your mouth
you look at me
with a twinkle in your eye
a smile crosses your lips
as if you read my mind
I lean toward you and
you toward me
for a pomegranate kiss
I first lick the juice
from your bottom lip
it is as I imagined
bursting with flavors
the likes I have never known
our kiss lingers ever so long
my mind dancing on the brink
I stand and take your hand
leading you into the orchard
sweetest fruit for the taking
we stop for a moment
to steal a kiss
it is so sweet my love
your pomegranate kiss
we find our way
to a hidden spot
dripping with honey
from the happiest bees
I whisper in your ear
I am finally home.
